Two people have been charged after a 16-year-old boy fell onto overhead lines at a railway station and suffered horrific injuries as he was electrocuted.
Emergency services rushed to Edinburgh Waverley station, near its entrance on Waverley Bridge at 11pm on May 8, after receiving reports of a casualty on the tracks. The youngster, who has not been identified, reportedly suffered "life-changing" injuries following the incident and remains in hospital. Network Rail says its overhead power lines carry around 25,000 volts of electricity at any given time – over 100 times the voltage of a typical Scottish house supply.British Transport Police said the pair have been charged with culpable and reckless conduct. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
