SAPS officers in the Free State have arrested two alleged drug dealers and confiscated dagga with a street value of about R990 000.

Allanridge - South African Police Service officers in Allanridge in the Free State have arrested two alleged drug dealers and confiscated dagga with a street value of about R990 000, the SAPS in the province said on Saturday.

Operation knock-out members received information about a Toyota Hilux bakkie that was to drive passed Allanridge from Klerksdorp in the North West on its way to Cape Town on Friday, Brigadier Motantsi Sam Makhele said. "The members devised a plan and while on the R30 they saw a vehicle that matched the description of the said vehicle. The vehicle was cornered and forced to stop. Upon searching the vehicle, members found 37 dagga bags neatly packed in the back of the Toyota and its trailer."

The driver and his passenger were arrested for dealing in dagga. It was later discovered that the dagga was worth R990 000. The bakkie and its trailer were also confiscated. The two suspects, aged 31 and 39, would appear in the Allanridge Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of dealing in dagga, Makhele said.
