The Best U.S Restaurant Bar award recognizes a restaurant bar that is “dedicated to creating a great cocktail experience for their dining guests,” according to the description on theConsiderations for the best U.S. restaurant bar award include a bar program’s selection of before and after dinner drinks, a well-integrated food and cocktail menu, bartending, and mixology excellence. The establishment must also have a full dinner menu, as well as high ratings for its food and beverage selections.
Other Southern contenders for Best U.S. central restaurant bar include Coltivare and Rosie Cannonball in Houston, Texas and Jewel of the South and Saba in New Orleans, La. This year, there are 12 restaurant nominees in the U.S Central category due to a tie. Award-winning bartender Jose Medina-Camacho has been at the helm of Automatic Seafood’s beverage menu, developing the cocktail and wine programs since Adam Evans and Suzanne Humphries Evans opened the Lakeview restaurant in 2019.
“I really enjoy the partnership that our bar manager, Jose, and I have that revolves primarily around working with what comes in from the farms each week,” said Automatic’s chef Adam Evans told“It’s great to have the bar and kitchen program complementing each other and featuring the same ingredients.”
Medina-Camacho has garnered a number of recognitions for his craft behind the sticks, including winning multiple qualifiers for both the Woodford Reserve Manhattan Experience competition and Alabama Bartender of the Year.
