Two men accused of murdering South Africa n rapper Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes and Chef Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane are facing additional charges related to the death of a taxi owner and a kidnapping. Siyanda Eddie Myeza and Lindani Zenzele Ndimande are facing a string of charges alongside Siphamandla Ngcobo and Mduduzi Comfort Ngubeni. These charges include the murder of Siyabonga Ngcobo, a taxi owner killed on March 6, 2023. Ngcobo was associated with the Lamontville Taxi Association.
The State alleges that on January 7, 2023, Myeza and Ndimande, along with other accomplices, assaulted Sizwe Goodman Ndlovu and stole his Mercedes Benz in North Beach. Ndlovu was reportedly approached by the accused and other armed assailants who forced themselves into his vehicle and drove off with him inside. The State further claims that the accused drove with Ndlovu and later dropped him off on the N2 highway near Queen Nandi Drive in eThekwini. The stolen vehicle is alleged to have been used as a getaway car during the murder of Ngcobo in March. The State outlines that the accused, along with their associates, conspired to kill Ngcobo in March, amidst a backdrop of taxi feuds and revenge attacks fueled by violence within the industry. The accused are believed to have belonged to rival taxi associations compared to Ngcobo. On the day of Ngcobo's murder, the accused allegedly targeted him while he was with his wife, Zamokuhle Mkhwanazi-Ngcobo, at a red light. They drove several vehicles, including Ndlovu's stolen Mercedes Benz, and opened fire on Zamokuhle and Ngcobo. Zamokuhle managed to escape the scene, driving away while pursued by the accused who continued shooting at her vehicle, a Grey Land Rover. She eventually reached safety at Engen Garage in Umbilo, where she stopped for assistance. By this time, Ngcobo had already sustained fatal gunshot wounds and died inside the Land Rover at the garage. The accused fled the scene, driving through a red light and accidentally hitting a pedestrian crossing the road. They abandoned the Mercedes Benz and the involvement of other individuals in the crime remains unclear. All accused individuals will make their first appearance in the High Court on May 8
