Set up at three locations over the weekend, RCMP officers screened drivers for alcohol and drug impairment. They laid twoimpaired driving charges, two 60-day driver’s licence suspensions related to alcohol, one seven-day driver’s licence suspension related to alcohol and two 72-hour driver’s licence suspensions related to alcohol.Article content
Additionally, officers issued 18 written warnings, 14 tickets for traffic offences and three 30-day vehicle impoundments as a result of suspended and unauthorized drivers. “We know that many people are travelling on our roads during a long weekend. We wanted to help ensure those roads are safe, so we partnered with CTSS officers to set up these checkpoints at well-travelled points on our highways,” Lumsden RCMP Cpl.
