The incident, which occurred late Wednesday night, resulted in a massive fire and extensive damage to critical infrastructure. This left thousands of residents without electricity for an extended period. According to City of Tshwane, the explosion severely damaged one of the substation’s transformers and panels exacerbating the already precarious power situation in the affected areas.As a result, the city has estimated that phased restoration of power to vast areas across the eastern region will commence fromCity of Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo revealed that operational constraints have hindered progress in restoring power in affected areas.
“We cannot say who will be first in terms of the areas that will receive power supply,” said Mashigo.Residents in the affected communities expressed frustration and concern over the prolonged power outages. Furthermore, the situation has been further aggravated by severe traffic congestion during peak hours, compounding the inconvenience faced by residents.reported on the growing apprehension among Tshwane residents.
