Mortal Kombat 2 officially starts filming and producer Todd Garner promises that the sequel is fixing the mistakes of the first hit movie.

After filling out its fighting roster, producer Todd Garner has announced Mortal Kombat 2's filming start. Plot details are being kept under wraps on the next chapter of the video game adaptation franchise, though it is expected to see the fighters of Earthrealm taking part in the eponymous fighting tournament in order to keep Shang Tsung and the forces of Outworld from invading.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Just over two years after the first movie hit theaters, Todd Garner took to Twitter to announce Mortal Kombat 2's filming start in Australia. In addition to expressing his excitement for what's to come from the sequel, the producer also assured that the creatives behind it have listened to fan feedback and fixing much of the 2021 reboot's mistakes.

How Mortal Kombat 2 Can Improve The 2021 Reboot Movie Though the Paul W.S. Anderson-helmed adaptation holds a cult following nearly 30 years after its release, the 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot movie saw a much better response from fans of the source video game, largely for its R-rated approach to the bloody fighting at the heart of its story. Additionally, Josh Lawson, Joe Taslim and Hiroyuki Sanada's turns as Kano, Sub-Zero and Scorpion, respectively, was hailed as pitch-perfect casting.

The other major element audiences are keen to see fixed in Mortal Kombat 2 is Lewis Tan's Cole Young, the sole original hero created for the first movie revealed to be Scorpion's descendant.
