Trunk and disorderly: Cape Town emergency teams swamped with more than 100 tree-related incidents
The City of Cape Town's Recreation and Parks Department received 108 after-hours tree emergency calls this past weekend after gusty winds and heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in parts of the province.
The City of Cape Town's recreation and parks department received 108 after-hours, tree-related emergency calls this past weekend after gusty winds and heavy rainfall battered parts of the Western Cape. According to the City, the number of calls exceeded the 76 incidents attended to during the traditional three-month winter period last year.
Mayoral committee member for community services and health, Patricia van der Ross, said the highest number of tree-related calls came from the city bowl, southern suburbs, and Helderberg basin, including Firgrove, Strand, Somerset West and Gordon's Bay.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
