The face of a 16-year-old girl who died more than 1,300 years ago is revealed.
Experts now believe the teenager probably got quite ill on journey over and never quite recovered, said Dr Sam Lucy
Dr Sam Leggett, who helped conduct the Cambridge University isotopic analysis before she moved to Edinburgh University, said: "She was probably quite unwell, she travelled a long way to somewhere completely unfamiliar - even the food was different - it must have been scary." Dr Lucy said research into European bed burials "really does seem to suggest the movement of a small group of young elite women from a mountainous area in continental Europe to the Cambridge region in the third quarter of the seventh century".
