Trump to skip bipartisan St. Patrick's luncheon; blames Pelosi
Irish eyes at the U.S. Capitol will not smile on President Trump on St. Patrick’s Day.
Drew Hammill, a spokesman for Pelosi, said congressional support for the U.S.-Ireland relationship has never been stronger. Trump remains incensed at Pelosi for leading the Democratic-controlled House in December to impeach him. Trump, lawmakers alleged, asked Ukraine’s leader to investigate Democratic presidential rival Joe Biden while delaying delivery of military aid Congress had approved to help the country defend against Russian aggression. The Senate’s Republican majority voted in February to acquit Trump.
