President Donald Trump's approval rating during the coronavirus pandemic has decreased among Independents, older Americans and black voters, according to a new poll.
The poll, which was conducted by Navigator, surveyed 1,009 U.S. adults and has a confidence interval of 3.1 percentage points. The Navigator poll has conducted surveys since March 30 and has found that Trump's coronavirus approval rating has declined among three specific groups.
Black voters also overwhelmingly disapprove of Trump's handling of the pandemic. According to the pollsters, his net approval rating, defined as the share who approve minus the share who disapprove, sharply decreased. The poll in March showed a negative 22 net approval rating among black voters, but this number plummeted to a negative 40 net approval rating.
According to the poll, 46 percent of older Americans said they approve of Trump's handling of the coronavirus, while 52 percent said they disapprove, showing a net approval rating of negative 6 points. Comparatively, the first poll conducted in late-March found a 17 point net approval rating in the poll conducted in late-March, but this number has since decreased 23 points.
