The audio recording marks the third known phone call Trump made to officials in Georgia in the weeks following the 2020 election.
“[Ralston] basically cut the president off,” one juror said. “He said, ‘I will do everything in my power that I think is appropriate.’ … He just basically took the wind out of the sails. ‘Well, thank you,’ you know, is all the president could say.” The revelation comes after the special grand jury in Fulton County concluded its work and made several recommendations for indictments. The case is now in the hands of District Attorney Fani Willis, who will decide whether to press charges.
The grand jury released portions of its report in mid-February detailing its monthslong investigation into Trump’s actions surrounding the 2020 election. The investigation centered on a phone call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in which the former president pushed Raffensperger to"find" 11,780 votes to secure his win in Georgia and overturn Trump's loss in the 2020 election against Biden.
Trump has maintained he did not commit any wrongdoing and that his conversation with Raffensperger was a"perfect call.”
