Police in Timmins say charges include careless driving and driving over hours
OPP reported that a 45-year-old transport driver from Brampton was charged with 24 offences in less than 24 hours.
In Canada, a commercial truck driver must stop driving after 13 hours of driving time from the end of the most recent period of 8 consecutive off-duty hours. 14 hours of on-duty time from the end of the most recent 8 consecutive off-duty hours. 70 hours over 7 consecutive days, or 120 hours over 14 consecutive days.
The saga started on January 28 at 10:47 a.m., when South Porcupine OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a transport swerving all over the road. Police located it on Highway 11 near Ramore, and the driver was charged with four Highway Traffic Act offences. That same day at 7:39 am, the OPP responded to a traffic complaint about that same driver, on Highway 11 near Smooth Rock Falls.The owner of the transport from Edmonton, Alberta, was also charged with the following five offences:
