An officer at 6:48 a.m. on Sept. 11 responded to W.B. Mason on Industrial Parkway in response to a report of a stolen box truck that the company had rented from Ryder.

A W.B. Mason district manager said the truck, which had been locked, was stolen off the company lot. A Ryder representative was on the scene and tracking the vehicle using GPS. They determined the truck was stopped on Grafton Road in Elyria. The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location and secured the truck until North Olmsted police officers arrived. Someone had put Indiana license plates on the vehicle, the VIN confirmed it was the stolen truck.

The ignition lock was damaged and the cab light in the interior of the truck was shattered. No other damage was observed. Ryder employees took possession of the truck at 10:25 a.m.A woman was charged with petty theft at about 2:25 p.m. on Sept. 4 after she was accused of failing to pay for items at the self-checkout register at Walmart.

A store loss prevention officer said he observed the woman conceal face care products and hair bands in her purse. In addition, as she went through the self-checkout register, she scanned some items but bagged many items without scanning them, according to a police report. The loss prevention officer stopped the woman as she left the store. The value of the stolen items was placed at $207.79, according to the report.Police at 4:11 p.m. on Sept.

Officers arrived and spotted the woman attempting to get on an RTA bus on Great Northern Boulevard, but she instead began walking northbound upon spotting officers, according to a police report.
