Boksburg North SAPS station commander, Colonel Mack Mngomezulu, is warning motorists to remain vigilant as hijackings, especially truck hijackings, are still an issue in the Boksburg North precinct.

The station commander said their modus operandi is to block the truck at a stop sign or red traffic light. In most cases, they also kidnap the driver and drop them off at another location after a while.“A few of these cases have been reported,” said Mngomezulu.

“I advise motorists to be alert and aware of their surroundings as well as to put valuables, such as laptops, out of sight. Furthermore, don’t pick up strangers at traffic lights or stop signs.” According to Mngomezulu the station has been analysing crime and increased police visibility at hotspots. The station commander was unable to share statistics with the Boksburg Advertiser.
