Continued efforts to stop the illegal drug trade and the trafficking thereof via the main entry and exit routes to the Western Cape yielded success when police members arrested a truck driver on the N1 in Laingsburg on Thursday, 09 May 2024 in connection with the transportation of drugs with a substantial estimated value.
Information reveals that members of the Rural Flying Squad deployed in Laingsburg, in collaboration with Laingsburg SAPS, performed high-density patrols on the N1 national road when they followed their instinct to pull over a truck. The members ensued with a search of the driver and the truck upon which they found ten packets containing mandrax concealed in a box and eight boxes containing compressed dagga. The value of the drugs is estimated at about R3.54 million.
