He campaigned to save the life of his dog Kim after a guarding incident threatened to see her put to sleep
Tributes have been paid from across the world to dog lover and campaigner Donal Rogers, following his passing on Christmas Day. Mr Rogers was 85.
His story, initially highlighted by Gript, caught the attention of the public and media across Ireland, the UK, the US and further afield. Judge Karen Fergus ordered instead that dog control measures be put in place by Mr Rogers. She also ordered compensation in the amount of €5,000 to be paid to the complainant, Ms Breid Greene, along with costs of about €1,500.
‘I intend for this group to continue to honour our support of Donal and Kim going forward, just as we did throughout the campaign. Please keep your focus on them and them alone. ‘He no doubt had a lot of experiences this last year that he never had before. We all through our individual love of animals helped him win his fight to save his beloved Kim, who he has had since she was a puppy of six weeks, and who he nursed back to health after she was injured at seven months.
