Mr McGregor was also described as a 'big gentle giant full of fun'
On Saturday details emerged of the passing of Shane McGregor, who was the Head of English at St Patrick's College in Maghera.
In a tribute on social media, the school said: "The College this afternoon learned with deep regret the death of Mr Shane McGregor - Head of English, esteemed colleague and friend. "Shane will be very sorely missed by staff and pupils. We are heartbroken. May Shane rest in peace . St Patrick, pray for him."
"Family have asked for a strictly private wake for family and friends. Funeral arrangements to be announced later. Sacred heart of Jesus, have mercy on his soul."
