Treasury finds irregularities in how Limpopo municipal manager awarded R61.1 million in tenders
A manager of a Limpopo municipality has been found to have rushed ahead to award tenders to companies before the bid adjudication committee had time to make its recommendations, unfairly awarding contracts to his preferred companies.
National Treasury made this finding after launching an investigation following whistleblowers’ complaints that the municipal manager of the Thohoyandou based Thulamela municipality, Masala Makumule, flouted procurement procedures and awarded tenders to his favourite companies without the involvement of the municipality’s chief finance officer and his supply chain management committee.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
