The Springboks' squad announcement has been pushed back due to their flight from London to Johannesburg being cancelled.
The Springboks have been delayed at Heathrow Airport after their flight back to South Africa from London was cancelled late on Sunday night.
Rassie Erasmus and his team were set to fly back home on Sunday night, a day after opening their Test campaign with a 41-13 win over Wales at Twickenham. As per the Springboks’ initial schedule, they were set to touch down on home soil on Monday and Erasmus were to reveal his squad for the two-Test series against Ireland on the same day.the Springboks’ flight was cancelled late on Sunday night following several delays, which forced the team to remain in London for an extra night.
The squad is now set to fly to South African late on Monday afternoon and touch down in Johannesburg in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The first Test against the Ireland will take place at Loftus on Saturday, 6 July, followed by the series decider the next week at Kings Park in Durban.Unfazed by the flight cancellation, the Springboks were jovial at Heathrow Airport with a fellow South African citizen capturing them on video singing and dancing.Surreal… we’re tired and dirty, don’t know what time our flight will be rescheduled.
