The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union has rejected a new wage offer by Transnet.

The Transnet strike continues as talks between unions and the entity drag on. The employer has tabled a new offer between 4.25 percent to 5 percent across the board. But SATAWU is rejecting it. Our Cape Town reporter Nobesuthu Hejana has an update.

JOHANNESBURG - Transnet workers are standing by their demands for a wage increase of between 12 and 13 percent.Transnet is only offering an increase of between 3 and 4 percent.Satawu has rejected the latest offer of between 4.25 and 5 percent.SAFTU general secretary, Zwelinzima earlier said they’re in solidarity with striking Transnet workers.Meanwhile, the unions have agreed to rules of picketing at the CCMA.
