Discover the secret garden that bursts into colour during the autumn months
Autumn is here and we’re lucky to have so many beautiful parks on Merseyside where we can enjoy the season in all its glory.
In Liverpool, there’s one park in particular where you can see Autumn in all its glory, in a small courtyard, tucked away from the busier greenspaces and play areas. Calderstones Park near Allerton in south Liverpool has its very own Japanese Garden where the maple trees burn their brightest shade of red at this time of year, but only for a short few weeks.
Away from the walled gardens, Calderstones also features a large duck and geese pond, along with the ancient Allerton Oak, beneath which a court sat 1,000 years ago. The park is named after and home to ancient megaliths, said to be older than Stonehenge.
