A trailer truck hauling organic bricks caught fire in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Ward Road and one lane of traffic has been closed by the incident.
The fire happened just before noon Friday, and firefighters with Wheat Ridge, Arvada and Fairmount fire departments responded and doused the fire. Firefighters remained on scene to make sure the load to not reignite. There were no injuries.
The exit ramp to Ward Road was also shut down by the mishap. Traffic is backed up, and drivers are urged to slow down and to avoid the area if possible. A tow truck operator has been contacted to clear the truck and trailer from the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
