Belleville City Council will consider adding speed humps to Yeomans Street as part of a traffic calming pilot project. The city adopted a Traffic Calming Policy in 2020 and approved a Traffic Calming Pilot project the following year. Village Drive was initially chosen for the pilot but after public consultation, the city decided it would be better to spend the money on sidewalks for the street with construction to start in 2024.
Though, technically, Yeomans Street does not fit the criteria for the city’s traffic calming policy because it is too busy, staff recommend collecting more traffic data to amend the policy to better reflect the traffic conditions.along Yeomans Street and analyzing the outcome. There would be a Public Information Centre on the pilot before it begins.
