It’s impossible to ignore Hooker’s consistency with his decision-making, but it’s also important to point out how he’s never been afraid to let his receivers make a play. While Hooker’s over-the-top shots don’t land every time, he gives Tennessee receivers a chance to make something happen far more often than he doesn’t. And when he gets his feet set, opens his hips and drives the ball with that over-the-top delivery, he can rip a really pretty deep shot.
Consistency with his mechanics is an ongoing process for Hooker, as it is for almost all college passers, and he tends to lose accuracy when he’s off-platform. But his ability to extend plays should translate to the next level, even though he’s more agile than explosive as a runner.
