The culprit broke into the historic property, authorities said.
The suspect is described as a cleanshaven white man 30 to 40 years old. A photo released of the suspect shows he was wearing a dark-colored T-shirt and matching slacks.
The prior incident was an attempted burglary on May 8 where sections of a door were damaged during an attempted break-in on the Tovrea Castle, according to Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Brian Bower. Situated on the eastern outskirts of Phoenix, the Tovrea Castle is a 95-year-old landmark owned by the city.
