The Prime Minister has admitted that local elections this week will be 'difficult' for the Conservativeshave drawn up a policy plan which they say would allow the party to reset under a new leader ahead of this year’s general election.
Parliamentary aides close to the disaffected MPs have privately claimed to have a “100-day plan” which would include promises to cut immigration, boost defence spending, give NHS staff a pay rise, imprison more criminals and crack down on benefits. He told ITV News: “Local elections are always difficult for incumbent governments, but we’ll be campaigning very hard. We’ve got fantastic candidates and as we said, there’s a very clear contrast in what you get from Conservatives at a local level.
