“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail,” Environment Canada stated in a news release Wednesday afternoon.
Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm storm watch for the city of Toronto on Wednesday among several other regions of Southern Ontario.
The agency said thunderstorms are expected to begin late in the afternoon. The main hazard will be the wind gusts, the agency said. The agency is reminding the public that large hail can damage property and cause injury. “Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.”
