Toronto Raptors roster will change, but how extensive will it be?:
So set those three scenarios and the fate of the head coach aside for the moment and focus on what the Raptors actually do control.
Barnes and Siakam operate for the most part in the same space at the moment. Siakam is a little better shooter but still not considered above average at the NBA level and creates most of his offence off of drives into the paint..Siakam’s shooting actually regressed this year, but it felt like late in the season his three-point game took a major uptick.Article content
Barnes, at least until that shooting does come, is going to be a guy who gets his with his athleticism and his strength going to the basket. There were the makings of one of those Kawhi-like Spurs situations last summer when Kevin Durant and Brooklyn fell out of favour, but the Nets wisely hung onto the asset when they couldn’t get their return and eventually got something they could live with from Phoenix.
Not only is Barnes younger and with a higher upside at this point in his career compared to Siakam who is seven years older, but Barnes is also showing signs that he’s on his way to being a better closer than Siakam, something the Raptors are currently lacking.Article content
