Toronto Raptors beat the Miami Heat in overtime in final home game of the season Globe_Sports

Miami Heat forward Rodney McGruder defends against Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby at Scotiabank Arena on April 7, 2019. Toronto defeated Miami in overtime. The Toronto Raptors were pleased with the way they withstood a tough test on Sunday from Dwyane Wade and his desperate Miami Heat team, and escaped with a 117-109 overtime victory.

Fans inside Scotiabank Arena gave a standing ovation to Wade when he checked in off the bench in the first quarter. The 37-year-old star has said that this – his 16th NBA season – will be his last. The Raptors looked listless on defence early in the game, allowing several Miami players to have their moments. Hassan Whiteside got hot in the paint and Goran Dragic got loose to create for his teammates. Dion Waiters just kept hitting deep balls and former Raptor James Johnson was easing to the hoop on what would be an 18-point day. Wade showed glimmers of the moxy that made him famous, delivering on layups, jumpers and three-point daggers.
