Toronto police are reminding you to check your phone’s settings after seeing a large influx of accidental 911 calls.Toronto’s 911 Call Centre received an average of 6,500 call per day in May, which is up from 5,200 calls in 2022. The centre receives both 911 calls and calls to the non-emergency lines. Nearly 70 per cent of the calls they got in May were 911 calls and almost half were accidental.
The Toronto centre has introduced a near text message notification feature to respond to some calls, which asks you to call back if there is an emergency.Review the settings on your mobile phone
