Toronto Mayor Tory supports new city transit report prioritizing downtown relief line and Scarborough extension GlobeToronto
The report also confirms what critics of the Scarborough subway have long said: that the burgeoning cost of that project would prevent funding of the Eglinton East light rail extension that was bundled with it as a compromise that was described a few years ago as bringing “peace in the land.” The LRT is mentioned in the report, but is no longer deemed a priority project.
“It’s kind of disappointing that there’s no solid funding for Eglinton East,” she said. “If there’s no funding it means there’s no priority on building it, plain and simple.”
