THUNDER BAY – Police have arrested a Toronto man in connection with a suspected home takeover situation relating to drug trafficking in Thunder Bay's south side.

Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Community Oriented Response and Engagement Unit were dispatched to a residential address in the 200s block of Cumming Street just after 9:20 a.m. Thursday to check on the wellbeing of a possible home takeover victim, police said. Officers observed multiple people inside the home upon arriving, including the Toronto man later arrested, and evidence he was involved in drug trafficking activity, according to the TBPS.

Police report seizing an unspecified quantity of suspected cocaine, suspected fentanyl, paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, and cash from the home.A 27-year-old Toronto man was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The suspect appeared in bail court on Friday, and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
