The accused staff member is on home assignment until further notice
Bird said it is difficult to predict how long the investigation will last. First steps have been to allow Children’s Aid Society and Toronto Police to look into the matter — the latter concluding that this is not a criminal case.
In the meantime, students in the impacted class have been offered social work support. The accused staff member, on the other hand, is not allowed in the classroom or the school. Being placed on home assignment, Bird said, is not a disciplinary action but simply protocol during an investigation. “These allegations are very serious and, if true, would be completely unacceptable and could result in serious consequences up to and including dismissal,” TDSB said.
The TDSB said it is unable to reveal any more information about the accused or specifics of the incident until it has concluded its investigation.
