Toronto election reality check: How the mayoral hopefuls would unclog city streets

Each of the leading mayoral contenders is promising to ease gridlock in Toronto. We asked three transportation experts to assess their platforms.

Implement stronger traffic-law enforcement and heavier fines; fast-track construction downtown and on the TTC; prohibit lane closures on Richmond, Adelaide and Dundas between Bay and Victoria while the Ontario Line subway is under development; impose steep penalties on companies leaving construction debris; and improve transit, including cutting fares for single rides on the 501 Queen streetcar and Scarborough Rapid Transit to $2 until the Scarborough busway is complete.
