Toronto can expect to see between 15 and 25 centimetres of snow Friday evening into Saturday, Environment Canada says.

No deaths or injuries have been reported from the storms that struck Texas and Louisiana on Thursday night after slamming California earlier in the week with as much as 7 feet of snow.Toronto could see as much as four centimetres of snow per hour once the snow begins to fall.Vincent Sferrazza, a city transportation services director, said the snow clearing “will be an all-hands-on-deck operation.”

Jennifer McKelvie, the deputy mayor, said the city is “well prepared,” adding that crews were on the roads last night spraying brine.“We will start salting as soon as the snow starts to stick,” said Barbara Gray, transportation services general manager with the city. Environment Canada’s warning notes that, once it starts, snow may quickly become heavy as snowfall rates could reach up to four centimetres per hour.
