Rishi Sunak claimed that too many universities are 'ripping young people off' with degrees that do not boost their life chances

The latest policy would see 100,000 new apprenticeships funded by the government each year by the end of the next parliament. While the Office for Students would have the final say on how many degrees would be blocked, the Tories estimate it would equate to around 13 per cent of the current student cohort.

“Thanks to our plan, apprenticeships are much higher quality than they were under Labour. And now we will create 100,000 more, by putting an end to rip-off degrees and offering our young people the employment opportunities and financial security they need to thrive.”
