The team opened up World Cup play Thursday with a 3-0 win over Vietnam, but created a social media stir with how it handled the national anthem.
It is certainly possible that Brady is now among those offended, but considering the team’s history there, it seems unlikely.
“As an American … I hope U.S. women’s soccer team gets beat by every other national team they play!” another person tweeted. “The U.S. women’s soccer team IS A DISGRACE!” “Thank you to the players who were respectful to America!” another person wrote in response to a Fox posting of the video. “To those who weren’t: go find another country to play for or get out of the sport. Time for the U.S. women’s soccer team to have their #BudLight moment. Time for sponsors to stop funding them and pull out.”
