Tolman Has Created The 200 HP Peugeot 205 GTI Of Your Dreams | Carscoops carscoops
and British specialist Tolman Engineering has just unveiled its first customer-ordered reimagination of the iconic hatch.GTI comes to life at the company’s Warwickshire workshop. It starts life out as a bare metal shell that receives an anti-corrosion, stone chip, and ceramic coating protection before Toman gets to work improving every other aspect of the car.One of the most significant upgrades is the fitment of a heavily-modified 1.9-liter engine.
Tolman Engineering has also worked its magic on the transmission of the 205 GTI, equipping it with upgraded shift rods and bushes to result in more positive and slicker gear changes. The company then turned its attention to the chassis of the Peugeot, re-tuning the Bilstein dampers, fitting adjustable bottom arms, a new rear anti-roll bar, improved power steering, and an optional big brake package with AP Racing calipers and stainless steel brake lines.
Found in the cabin of Tolman 205 GTI is an optional Motec LCD dashboard display, fully retrimmed seats, new carpets, an Alcantara steering wheel, a Blaupunkt audio system with a discreet subwoofer, and Bluetooth. The owner of this first example has also had it fitted with a security system that includes remote central locking, an integrated alarm, an immobilizer, a tracker system, and smartphone control.
“The overriding impression from those experiencing our development car was the emotions it invoked,” Chris Tolman said in a statement. “Drivers stepped out of the car grinning, having rekindled that feeling that’s so hard to find when driving today’s sports cars on the road. Back in the 80s and 90s, for me and I’m sure many others, 205 GTIs were a first taste in performance cars; something rewarding, responsive and engaging.

Used Volkswagen Golf GTi Mk2 8V for saleProduced from 1984 the Golf GTi Mk2 was a big improvement on the already superb Mk1. The body was stiffer and built to last being dipped in wax upon production and on the road the wider track and 4 wheel disc brakes helped handing and stopping. The car that we are offering is one of the best and is so good and original it is no surprise that Classic & Sportscar chose it as the example in their Golf GTi Mk2 buyers guide, the article can be found here https://www.classicandsportscar.com/features/buyers-guide-volkswagen-golf-gti-mk2 An ex concours winner, there are many, many trophies with the car along with the concours score sheets showing only a few marks being dropped over the years. Registered in August 1989 our Tornado Red 8V car has had just 3 previous owners (the last one for 11 years) and has still only covered 52,000 miles. A small bumper model, the original bill of sale is within the cars history file showing the rare factory options of Power Steering, Alloy Wheels x5, Tinted Glass, Electric Door Mirrors, Electric Windows, Central Locking and Headlamp Washers. Popularity of 80s hot hatches is stronger than ever and is the place to be in the classic market. Whether it be an Astra GTE, 205 GTi, XR3i or Golf GTi, if you get a good one the driving experience is very rewarding from them all but the Golf has by far the best build quality. Still looking fabulous inside and out and driving as well as it looks, this car is as original an example as you could hope for.
