Friday, March 3: The NCC should revisit its needlessly complicated climate \u0027adaptation\u0027 strategy, says one reader.
Here’s an idea for how the NCC can adapt: Take a page from the city’s strategy for managing some of its outdoor rinks. Do away with the heavy equipment, the trucks, the slush cannons, the consultants and contractors; recruit an army of volunteers, provide them with shovels, scrapers, scoops, a few small snowblowers augers, portable pumps, hoses and an end-of-season pizza party. You will have a longer skating season and a more spirited, involved, healthier and caring community.
Second, historical figures should be considered within the context of their time and the prevailing attitudes of their era. Acknowledge how their actions or beliefs might have been seen as commonplace at the time, while recognizing that they are no longer acceptable.
