It is a big anniversary day in the life of New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs. On this date in 2018 he began his journey as the 34citizen of his province to serve in New Brunswick’s top political job. An engineer, who was formerly an executive with Irving Oil, Premier Higgs has had a complicated political journey: over the years he has been a member of three political parties – the NB Liberals, the Confederation of Regions Party and now his province’s Tories.

He served as New Brunswick’s Minister of Finance from 2010 to 2014 and went on to lead the PC party to a minority election victory in 2018 and then a subsequent re-election, with a majority, in 2020.is an accomplished public historian and award-winning journalist. He was research assistant on The Rt. Hon.
