TJ Hughes reopened on Church Street yesterday after 111 years on London Road
The department store had been based at Audley House overlooking Monument Place for close to 100 years and based in the London Road area for 111 years.
It was then announced the store would move to the former H&M on Church Street. Customers can find personal and beauty products on the ground floor along with a range of stylish menswear. The first floor boasts a massive array of womenswear including lingerie and footwear, along with a few more items for men.
The top and final floor is where you can find everything from Christmas trees to spooky Halloween decorations, neatly displayed in TJ Hughes' seasonal section. At the far end of the floor sits the upcoming cafe which is still closed off to customers and under construction. During yesterday's launch day reopening, Thursday, September 22, the cafe area was shrouded in plastic coverings with no sign of it being ready to serve hungry shoppers anytime soon. However, a staff member told the ECHO today they expect the cafe to be up and running "sometime next week" despite no solid date in mind.
