'Tired' Liverpool star blasts new UCL format

A Liverpool star has blasted the new UEFA Champions League format, criticising the decision to add yet more games to the football calendar.

The 2024/25 season will see UEFA's new format of the UCL, in which instead of having 32 teams divided into eight groups of four, it will now have 36 clubs competing in what is now referred to as the league phase. Speaking ahead of their encounter against Milan, the Liverpool shot-stopper took issue with players not being asked about adding more fixtures to the season.
