Friday night will be mild for New Year’s Eve celebrations. Some thunderstorms are possible, with the potential for a strong to severe storm late. Gusty winds and hail are the main threats.
All storms end from west to east early New Year’s Day. Saturday will start mild with temperatures in the upper 60s neat 70 degrees. A strong cold front will arrive Saturday afternoon ushering in a substantial push of colder air. This will be the coldest air of the winter so far in North Texas. Expect freezing temperatures on both Sunday and Monday mornings. Sunday morning will offer a hard freeze with temperatures in the upper teens to mid-20s. Wind chill values Sunday morning will be down in the teens.: Mild with a chance of showers and storms. Highest chances will be after midnight. A severe storm can’t be ruled out. Low: 62. Wind: S 10-15 mph.: Early morning showers, then mostly sunny, windy, and turning sharply colder in the afternoon.
