Sophie Paul's three-year-old daughter was 'struggling' with her development due to poor housing before the family was offered a new start
The eight months in which the child and her mum, Sophie Paul, had no home of her own affected her development. She struggled with her speech, and became withdrawn around new faces.
Sophie says the difference in three-year-old Lilly-Rose, who has some additional needs, has been ‘amazing’. The new homes, which make up a £4.3m scheme with £1.1m provided by Homes England, were launched by Irwell Valley Homes in their 50th birthday year. “When I found out we were being offered a brand-new home, I couldn’t believe it – I was over the moon. Having the stability and the security that this place offers us at a rent I can afford is amazing and gives me so much peace of mind.
Guests enjoyed a tour of the homes, which have green features including air source heat pumps, mechanical ventilation, solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.
