3 shot during 'Ohio Takeover' car party promoted on Instagram

Sat, June 17th 2023, 12:46 PM UTCis investigating an early morning shooting in a Hilltop neighborhood that left three people injured during a party advertised on social media by a car group.

Police say the shooting happened in the 800 block of S. Harris Ave. in Columbus at approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday. According to the police report, the victims were attending a party posted on Instagram by the car group, "Ohio Takeover". While at the party, multiple unknown persons began firing shots, striking three different people. Several vehicles were also struck by the gunfire.Three victims, two men ages 20 and 22 and an 18-year-old woman, went to Doctors West Hospital on their own and were then taken to Grant Hospital by medics for treatment. They are expected to recover from their injuries.

A team from The Associated Press on Thursday viewed the skeleton with long black hair lying face up with its lower extremities tied with a rope braided from vines of vegetable origin. Archeologist Miguel Aguilar says the mummy was buried in a ritual that included coca leaves and seashells. The burial was on top of a destroyed U-shaped clay temple, a characteristic of some pre-Hispanic buildings. Aguilar says the mummy has not yet been subjected to radiocarbon dating to determine its age. The hill is next to the training field and headquarters for the Sporting Cristal soccer club.
