A British city center was locked down by police on Tuesday after three people were killed and three others injured in a series of alleged van attacks, according to authorities and media reports.
, East Midlands, shortly after 4 a.m. where two people lay dead in the street. They were then called to another incident nearby where a van had allegedly tried to run three people over—they were taken to hospital for treatment. Another man was found dead at a third location.
The 31-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of murder, police said. Counter-terror police are believed to be assisting the investigation, according to, but authorities have not yet declared it a terrorist incident. Investigators are reportedly looking into the suspect’s background and trying to establish a possible motive.
