It was revealed this week that 10 000 people will be allowed to participate in next month's Cape Town Marathon, albeit under strict restrictions.

Seven years on, it is fitting that the event will lead the way in the return to mass participation sport.Though it was already an established event before 2014, the Cape Town Marathon was rebranded and given a significant financial boost from naming rights sponsor Sanlam. They also did well to cater for social runners and spectators, providing a chance for people to run a major race on a course which showcases some of the Mother City’s rich cultural history and creating a festival atmosphere around the event.
