Thousands of Ford SA workers affiliated with the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa have downed tools.
About 3 000 members of Numsa staged a demonstration outside their workplace at Ford SA in Silverton. They are demanding the company share accumulated profits. Numsa is the only labour union at Ford South Africa. It has accused the company of refusing to meaningfully engage with the workers, blocking access to the plant in Silverton backed by the police.
