More than 3,000 Nova Scotia Power customers were still without electricity on Sunday morning.Nova Scotia Power said on Sunday morning it expected to have power restored to “the majority” of people without electricity by the end of the day.“We experienced record-breaking extreme cold temperatures and high winds, causing outage across the province.

“We have nearly 300 people in the field today working to safely restore power to customers affected by these extreme conditions. We understand how difficult this is to our customers. We appreciate their continued patience, as we’re working around the clock to get their power back on as soon as possible.”

NSP did not say where most of the people still without power lived, or if it knew how many people had been forced to leave their homes because they had no heat. The Weather Network says the wind chill at Stanfield International Airport got as low as minus 43, an all-time record.
